I love makeup. Even as a woman who is ‘aging beautifully’ I like to experiment with new beauty products and even do a series of videos on my Sixty and Me channel. However, when it comes to cruising, space in my cabin is usually at a minimum. So, I try my best to simplify.

It’s true that I love to keep my cruise packing in general to an absolute minimum but live to travel without a little makeup. Over the years I have packed huge bags of makeup only to return with them untouched (or even worst left in a secret drawer or lost).

Going Glam is Easy with My Secret Idea

So, I came up with a unique idea that works beautifully for me. Most women like to dress up on a cruise and glow in those on deck sunsets. Truthfully you really don’t need to worry too much about makeup on a cruise, but if you are like me, you are more comfortable when you can do a nice makeup application for dinner and those dress up evenings.

We Don’t Need as Much Makeup as We Think

The key principle is that we don’t realise how little makeup we really need. Even if you like to go a little glam at the Captain’s Dinner or make sure that those selfies look great, you don’t need a lot. You can fit all the makeup you need for an 8-day cruise in a tiny little makeup bag 4 inches by 3 inches in size! Don’t believe me?

My Secret – How I Fit All the Makeup I Need in a Tiny Bag

Well, I do something weird with my foundation and makeup. I am not sure if I read this somewhere or just came up with the idea myself but put them in little contact lens containers.

I have 2 set of contact lens cases and cover the lids with little resin cabochon jewels that I make. Super light weight and allows me to remember where I put different things.

Here is what is inside my bag. The foundation, blush/lipstick and eye shadows are inside the contact lens cases.  You can get leak proof versions which I highly recommend!

Foundation – Bare Minerals Pro Foundation

Blush – Stila Peony cream blush and lipstick

Lipstick – Combination of favourite pinks mixed together.

Eye Shadow – Ariane Poole Crystal Taupe Cream to Matte

Then in addition:

Lipstick – Kiko Hydra Shiny Lip Style – #3

Eyebrow Mascara – Della Dalla Palma

Lipliner and Brush – Kiko #504

Mascara – Wet and Wild XXL

Foundation – Loreal Total Cover (In tiny container)

Lipstick – Estee Lauder Frosted Apricot (In tiny container)

Toothbrush and Mini Toothpaste

Take Your Favourite Things in Small Amounts

The final item is perfume. I just spray a small amount of my favourite scent into a travel dispenser. The joy is the same. This 1/2 ounce of sandalwood perfume is perfect.  It makes me feel good and is a perfect way to complete the entire beautiful sensory experience which is cruising!

What secrets do you have for storing your makeup when cruising? What makeup items to do always like to pack on a cruise?
